Wisdom

Sincerely Yours

Once or twice this side of life, we come across a beautiful scene, an unforgettable person, an unexplainable bliss filled moment, and/or the sinking into the life of another being’s sorrow in total empathy.  Each are defining moments that we revisit when time slides into memories.

I searched for so many self-help methods, I remember being admonished for doing so.  I don’t know if I was more surprised that it should have been a bad thing, or if I felt shyly embarrassed; in retrospect, maybe both.  Ironically, the process served me well.

At a group therapy session, we were asked to close our eyes and visualize a place we would like to be in for a half an hour, preferably one that delighted us in some way.  I still go there to fall asleep in prayer.

My God parents visited us in Sao Paulo just before we moved to Niteroi. It was then that we went to Araruama. My father must have taken the photo. My mother is to the left in white.

The pure white sand beach glistened even below the clear emerald and aquamarine water.

The see-through colors at the Araruama beach in Brazil was empty except for tall bales of wind swept salt foams.

I ran through them and heard their soft cracking like chimes and felt enveloped as if inside a translucent bubble.

I ran into the water and floated so easily as the salt held me up me like a feather.

With eyes open below the water, I found a few treasured shells, and I still have them.

Somewhere behind me stood my parents and Godparents.   Keep Reading

Be Needed

You so matter in this world, every ounce of you must know it.

No sloth can justify hanging like a sheet on the line in the wind because that cloth serves a great purpose.  How many more things can we think of that can match the luxury of sleeping on a bed with clean sheets?  Surely the launderers have a place in heaven.  The chief cook and bottle washer takes the prize for generating the delicacies that all of us hunger to consume.  Everybody is needed to perform the mundane tasks to the more exquisite placement of the just part in its perfect place like in a car assembly line, and once that is understood, love appears.

There is movement in being needed and we swirl and twirl to do that which we enjoy so it is often said that to find doing something you love means never having to go to work.  Ouch!  Work ought not be such an uncomfortable word.  In fact, it is the very thing that brings us discovery.  I think it produces love, no kidding.  Responsibilities fulfilled are huge acts of love.

Sometimes I just get a feeling the prayers in my thoughts find signs of love.

LET ME SHARE A CLIP I ENJOY WHILE PEELING POTATOES:

”  I don’t like work… but I like what is in work–the chance to find yourself.  Your own reality–for yourself, not for others–which no other man can ever know.”  __Joseph Conrad

Oh, it is true.  In that process of doing, we find ourselves for who we are and the secret is ours to keep… or not.  The nugget of wisdom  here is that no sloth has yet emerged from slumber to discover a greater reality, a more fulfilling state of being.

We have been bombarded by a storm that flung the cones off the pine trees as if a giant sized jar of marbles were spilled on the grass everywhere…  The exercise of picking them up one by one is good for the mind, body, and soul, not to mention the curb appeal or the life of the lawn mower.

I think of the pleasures received and given because they all fill a need as well…  Kind acts of love do cascade…

God bless you one and all…

PS: I am so grateful to Stela Galben for including the ducks on her visit to Belgrad last autumn…  I needed just that to complete the blog of the letter N and to be needed…

Inspiring Company

HOPE is an acronym…
Help
Other
People
Evolve…

We are truly inspired by the good company we keep.

The giving of ourselves to others can inspire them to become inspiration for others.

That is exactly why teachers hold the torch for the future of men and women who will eventually design the path taken by their children…

Be not ensnared in despair by keeping company with those who mislead anyone into an undesirable reality…  To get out of there is to take one step forward and then another, and another and on and on..

The mind that welcomes God in a prayer of thanks giving for the new day, the fresh air, the clear dew drops, and even hot tears that speak of a silent, wounded heart, can find the way to survive because He hears the plea.  His peace arrives as a light to show a path of wholeness, fulfillment, and certainly joy.

On Easter Day the praise for Jesus’ resurrection is proclaimed in Alleluias…  Witnesses of His return to life were the candles burning that have lit ours on the table or the altar, all in awe, still looking up to say, “Oh, my God, dear Lord, How Great Thou Art.” Keep Reading

TRUE Social Justice

I have swept clean my earliest memories as a child.

I mean, I cleaned them out in a pile of dust for the Potter to mold them into a pitcher.  Now that it is filled, I would like a word about Social Justice.  It begins with being cordial.  There is no way anyone can advance a wholesome relationship without the quality of cordiality.  Any ambassador on a diplomatic post knows this card of success in bringing peace to the table.

I am sincerely baffled by the need for the world to learn more about being kind hearted.  Of course, I am even more disturbed by the fire fueled to burn the legacy of the intelligent thinker.  That’s why I say an incomplete education causes consequential harm in our society.  Mark Twain hit the nail on the head :
Every time you stop a school, you will have to build a jail. What you gain at one end you lose at the other. It’s like feeding a dog on his own tail. It won’t fatten the dog.
– Speech, 11/23/1900

It breaks my heart.  Lies aim to murder the truth.  A test of how serious we are in our belief in God and His power, is in our ability to stick to the truth.  After all, He knows all our secrets.  Therefore, to Him, social justice stands for words intended to fight a cause that was addressed by great thinkers.  Had they been taught, what a great difference they would have made.  I don’t give up on educating because there is no greater joy in any soul than to be in the knowing.  That’s where freedom soars.  Teachers and professors carry the responsibility of the nation’s future.  To deny a proper education is criminal.  To oppose those who give their time to better the lives of others is criminal.  To be infested by an ideology that promotes the destruction of our nation’s Constitution is sickening.  The disrespect has escalated and it is time for the educated to be heard instead.  There is no benefit to listening to the inept.  Who are they?  Easy to spot.  They fling mud at those who do the work.  They are the chameleons that unsuspectingly poison.

To be enslaved by the lies that have been spewed and continue to be spewed, is to be caught in the whirlpool of a cesspool.  Instead of disempowerment,we must choose to discipline ourselves to behave in civilized manners.  To laugh at this grain of truth is to deny the power of faith as large and heavy as a mustard seed.  That’s how little faith most of us have until that instant, that defining split of a second, when the TRUTH sparks, and we become what God intended all humans to be: humane. WELCOME to Be Star-Shine Daily

This blog as it is called for short articles addressing the writer’s points of interests, is much like an artist’s palette.  Initially I had hoped to have twelve categories to address specific topics readers could tap into and ask questions.  However, it has been designed with a name that does cover my heart’s intent.  I may be tweaking the four categories in time.  This is new to me, and I am literally like a kindergartner in a canvas playground with buckets of colorful paints ready to be used with just a few whispering brushes.

Since there are quotes that have transported me from heart beat to heart beat and from breadth to breadth, I can assure you I am grateful for their sustenance.  We are nurtured in different ways in life, and without brothers and sisters, books seemed to always be there to tell me something written by someone who cared enough to pour out nuggets.  Many of them have helped me keep my chin up and my back straight resolutely sure of how to perceive the mysteries of life.

” There is a pleasure, in the pathless woods.

There is rapture on the shore.

There is society where none intrudes

By the deep sea, and music in its roar.

I love not man less.

I love Nature more.”  Woodlands__Lord Byron

We live such fragile lives from the moment we are conceived, and the best in us is the love.  The star light from our soul eagerly shines from birth and somewhere along the way we are the stars that aim to fulfill our ultimate best.  I  thank God for sending us His Son, Jesus, and for my extraordinary good fortune in life to have honored  His wisdom.

I welcome your comments and questions and promise to answer, even if in a story.  God bless you and thank you for visiting my site.

WELCOME TO LIFE AN OPEN HEART

Take a moment to consider the day you were born.  Your business was to breathe and to continue to teach as you learned.  We were all there from the start yet our circumstances clearly different, unique as our fingerprints.

There is evidence that we learn and teach from the moment of conception.  Growth amasses change; Keep Reading
