The Truth About Lies

Well, a lie will never be true, so it is a self-induced embarrassment.

When the sun sets and the moon appears, the two know the fullness of their purpose.

People would do well to teach youngsters manners and most of all the value of the Ten Commandments.

Aside from being taught, comes the reality of how we learn what we wish to had been taught.

The time to figure out how to juggle all of life’s ups and downs is now, and it begins with mindfulness.  There is nothing boring about the benefits of being a light as the sun and the moon.

An eclipse can metaphorically align with the loneliness of knowing wrongdoings after the facts.  The darkness engulfs and until light returns, we hold our breadth with hope.  Our God lavished His love to all, and no one is denied the miracles script by the Apostles in the Bible.

The foolish smirk, and that no longer matters to me because the truth about their hardened hearts has proven to be a force against kindness.

Hope sustains every soul.  I believe.  I hope because I trust.  Without trust, there is no hope.  Love is pure and to love is to be kind.  Anything void of kindness, reflects a wounded soul. Keep Reading

My 2018 MERRY CHRISTMAS Letter

MERRY 2018 CHRISTMAS DEARESTS,

I reflect as we do just before embarking on a journey.  It seems we have to prepare for ETERNITY as Pastor Wyndham suggested in a sermon.  The passport keeps records of our individual lives yet at church we gather collectively for instructions.  I’m leafing through my own past and choose to share some information.

My parents and I arrived in United States of America on or about July 4, 1963…In 1968 my father applied for our citizenship and it was granted in the fall a year later.  He had been sponsored to serve at St. Elias Romanian Orthodox Church and even though he served two other parishes through his remaining years, he “confessed” just before his soul’s departure, the one in Ellwood City, PA, had been the one he treasured.  However, circumstances nudged choices as in all of our lives.  My parents’ earthly bodies rest at the Monastery of Transfiguration near the church that blessed us with the invitation to serve and embrace this nation’s freedom. Shipwrecked: Vacation Bible Camp

Shipwrecked?  When do we realize we are stranded?  Are we ever really all alone?

The wisdom to navigate life’s inevitable struggles contains the humility and kindness Jesus’ legacy provides in the New Testament.  The Old one is the Torah, and there the prophecies tell of the tales to unfold.  The New one continues to fill the minds and hearts of all who welcome the Holy Spirit’s presence.  It is through this form of hospitality that we arrive at being closer to being holy.  Can we really ever be?  We must strive to be holier as I found out even as I tripped over one of my Senior Tibetan Terriers…

Falling and aiming to break the fall without the ability to stop the second twist of the body that struck the unyielding tile floor, I remember the alarm of a new felt ache drawing and pulsing from hip to knee in a burst like the flame of a quickly struck match.  Not exactly surprised, I was shocked to feel a knife like stabbing in my neck when I instinctively turned to tell my family audience I was okay.

On a walk on Cougar Run with Dandelion and Tumbleweed…

Everyone extended a hand to lift me up, and I looked at the eight arms rather embarrassed by the ungraceful plump pose, and declared not to be touched.  That was wise, so  much better than to jump up without feeling the extent of the damaged body parts that now ached to be soothed.  Thanks be to God, nothing was broken.  Thanks be to God, I sat up slowly with the help of my oldest son’s pair of hands, and then stopped again to evaluate the situation.  The right side bruised without mercy let me know the only way up was to lean to the left…and since I was guided by the pain to know how to finally stand, I did so reassuring the group of stunned observers I was okay.  I looked for Tumbleweed, the sixteen year old mutt that still wished to be by my side, as close as possible to lick my foot, bless his doggy soul.

The point is I didn’t swear.  I thanked God. Keep Reading

To Be Of A Christian Heart

In Bucharest, Romania.

There are so many Christian denominations, it may be difficult to count or name them.

At the heart of all the Christian Churches, is the reverence, and love of God, His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, and an undeniable faith undoubtably blessed by the Holy Spirit.

However, the first Christian Church, The Easter Orthodox Church, is the ancient one from which the Catholics broke  in 1054.

The Lutherans broke from the Catholic in 1522, The Anglican Church of England was founded by King Henry the VIII in 1534, the Congregational Church was founded by Robert Brown in Holland in 1582,  and 1606, the Baptist Church was Founded in Amsterdam by John Smith, the Dutch Reformed Church was founded in New York by Michelis Jones, the Protestant Episcopal Church was an offshoot of the Church of England, founded by Samuel Seabury, in the American Colonies in the 18th Century, John and Charles Wesley founded the Methodist Church in England in 1774.  and that same year , in London, Theophilus Lindley, founded the Unitarian Church, and the Latter Day Saints, The Mormon Church, was founded by Joseph Smith in 1829.  In 18888, the Salvation Army was founded by William Booth in London.

In the Protestant tradition, hundreds of other religions have started in the last 100 years: Church of the Nazarenth, Pentecostal Church, Holiness Church, Assemblies of God, and many Bible and Evangelical and non-denominational Churches, as well as Jehovah’s Witnesses.

The Bible has served to bring the word of God.  All of these Churches worship differently yet they unite in our Lord.  I have been to most and know the good intended for all through the teachings of Jesus.  I love so many hymns… Keep Reading

To Be Unburdened

A collage of my cousin Adriana, her daughter, Monica, and her husband, Dan.  I love them.

Today is Orthodox Easter.  The greeting in Romanian  is “Hristos A Inviat!” Christ is Risen!

The response : “Advevarat A Inviat!” Indeed He is Risen!

My cousin Adriana Muntean from Constanta, Romania, sent me a text…and I’ll try to translate it:  The whiskered bunny is a  lucky omen on Easter…  He does not leave presents in your boots…  He has other secrets…  “pasca” a soft braided bread filled with cheese…  red eggs, and “cozonac” similar to the Italian “panettone” sweet bread with raisins or nuts…  roasted lamb…  and a Happy Easter…  It all rhymes and sounds like a jingle.

What matters most is that Adriana thought to send me the message…  Unburdened by the weight of the reality the family experienced due to my mother and father leaving Romania, my cousin’s husband called and I spoke with all of them, including my Tanti Lila.   They did not hold a grudge.  They forgave my parents.  My grandfather was imprisoned for years.

Angel Mission and Billy Graham

“Everyone entrusted with a mission is an Angel” __Maimonides

Reverend Billy Graham left footprints traced to heaven.  His passionate devotion reached hearts, minds, and souls.  I heard him preach on television, and remember his fervent authority.  His faith unquestionably poured from a source of love.  His divine calling soared as we think of angels.  I think heaven is celebrating his soul’s arrival.  I feel in my own heart God has said, “A job well done.”  He took his life on a mission and the mission to speak to all about the word of God in the Bible, became his angelic quest.  Even so, he humbly kept his wings tucked.

” Once, as we dashed onward like a hurricane, there was a flutter of wings and the bright appearance of an angel in the air, speeding forth on some heavenly mission.”  __ Nathaniel Hawthorne, The Celestial Railroad

When I think of  the mean spirited chatter, I look away and pray for a better world with devoted to God people.  I pray we can give the chaos a piece of our peace, serve it with equal authority, with confidence.  I pray for divine intervention to stop the madness and bring about more visions of angels.  May we be blessed with the mission to make a difference.  May we ask to fulfill it.
