I have been graced with faith as I took to prayer as bears to honey. As long as I can remember, I pressed my hands together in prayer. Had I remembered to do that before choosing to make decisions that I now regret, I may not have the calling to steer others in the right direction. As I read two days ago, those of us who truly feel the weight of our sins, are the least ones apt to fling a stone. That said, those of us who truly know human frailty in the dark, are moved to light the way for others to ignite the light against voluntary or involuntary disobedience.
For anyone missing a Bible, I recommend the one I received in 1996, a Zondervan Life Application Bible, the New International Version.
It is my most treasured book in a library of books I sequestered through the years in hopes of rereading someday.
How we choose to spend our time, is the story of our lives.
To have been blessed with the keen perception of David’s son Solomon, I too would have asked God in prayer for wisdom. Imagine how shocked I was to find out that my dearest friend Cindy asked God for just that when she was a young girl. I love Cindy for that too. As for me? I asked God for good looking knees. I’m not kidding. That did not go so well.
There are sixty-six books altogether in the Bible, and the preface to each chapter is shorter than a page in the Zondervan . Why does it matter? Well, it is a way to embark on a journey of discovery that reads relatively easy. No need to feel discouraged by the wording. I mark the verses that speak to my heart…with hearts and stars or checkmarks. I have even dated certain pages. Consider this an invitation to a personal study with our God.
The good news is as it is said to be, once empowered by knowledge, or the word of God, we still have the free will to choose to obey, or disobey, thus sin.
It is my humble intent to elementarily say that the word Genesis means Creation, and is also attributed to mean origination. That beginning is ours every moment.
As I stepped outside this morning, the pink petals were subdued by the gold dust of the pines that spreads like butter on toast everywhere outside at this time of year… The order of everything from dawn to dusk is a miracle just as even our President Trump commented this week in Alaska of the beauty of their state’s known midnight sun.
Life is so spectacular, we need but begin by appreciating the mold that holds our soul. We are more than a brain and a heart. The soul is a thread of God’s Holy Spirit in us. When we disobey God, our spirit aches and then other parts of the body empathize… That is my take.
To choose to consume drugs, is to become imprisoned as a slave without control of even the common sense present in reasoning.
Moses is the author of the first four chapters in the Old Testament, and also of the first part of the fifth book, Deuteronomy. He lived a remarkable life and was assigned the gift of telling us God’s story.
” In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.” __Genesis 1:1-2
I trust God’s Holy Spirit still hovers over us.
I trust it was His love filled Holy Spirit that inspired the origin of heaven and earth.
I trust He loves because when I face deep disappointments, it is His comfort I seek and receive.
” God has poured out His love unto our hearts.” __Romans 5:5
It is when we cherish His love… to share with one another… that we rise to know joy and peace.
As Christians, we are at the beginning of the lenten season, and the start holds anticipation. Our anticipation of every hour holds hope.
I trust God anticipates with hope that we obey the teachings of His word, and that we strive to be holy, as Jesus commanded we act to be.
Jesus prayed for future believers:
” I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one. I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved me and have loved them even as you have loved me.” __ John: 17: 22-23
